Last night we are in BB King Blues club on Beale street had some ribs it was very tasty. Saw a great band, the King Beez playing STAX soul music and some modern stuff.
Beale street has been famous since the 20s where it was the melting pot of bluesman all coming from the Mississippi delta to play there. BB King, howlin wolf, muddy waters, Louis Armstrong all played on Beale street. BB King got his name from this street he was called the Beale street blues boy

In the morning we went to the soul food cafe on Beale street and had some typical American brekkie before setting off to Graceland.

We got the free shuttle bus to visit Graceland and it was packed. Graceland was Elvis Presley’s home for over two decades and he lived here with his extensive family and friends. We got the tickets and got on another bus and headed to the house through the famous gates.

The first room was the living room which had a black piano at the end he would chill here and play gospel music with his family. There are various portraits around the room. To the left of this is the dining room. The table was set with Elvis and Priscillas wedding china and they ate here regularly with Elvis at the head. When Lisa Marie is in town she still eats here.

We then passed the kitchen which was basic but apparently someone was always cooking something 24/7. We headed around downstairs along mirrored wall to the room called the TV room, there were three TVs and he would watch sport news and films all at the same time. There was a record player where he would listen to his extensive music collection. The room across from that was the snooker room apparently he and his mates would muck about here for long periods of time.

Next was the Jungle Room which features an indoor waterfall . In 1976, the Jungle Room was converted into a recording studio, where Presley recorded the bulk of his final two albums, these were his final known recordings in a studio setting. We then headed outside and through his dad’s office, he would take numerous interviews here that can be seen on YouTube.

Outside there were horses and stables in the grounds that were still there, he loved to ride horses. On to the trophy room and wall of gold which was where all his records were. A massive extensive collection of all his awards, this leads to a room with clothing memorabilia for his comeback show and wedding was cool to see.

Outside that door was the racquetball building, he loved to play. Last on the tour was the meditation gardens where Elvis is buried. It was a quiet place and a lot of people showing their respect one lady was crying which shows you how much this one man meant to people even 40 years after his death.

After Graceland we did a few more exhibits like his car and bike collection which was cool to see he loved everything, motor and engine.

I got into Elvis from my mum who is a massive fan and played him a lot in the car on the way to school. I just enjoyed his music a lot. Elvis Presley is one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, for me its all about his music and voice. He felt and performed music on a deep level that you can’t teach. If you watch or hear him you can’t help but feel it to. He blended gospel, country and blues in his own way and transformed music as we know it today.

Back from Graceland we visited the Gibson museum which was awesome seeing all these amazing guitar. The Gibson brand has been used by everyone whose anyone who played the guitar. I was in heaven at the end I got to play all the guitars I wanted.

I played BB Kings guitar called Lucille, which he named after he saved it from a fire that was started by fight over a girl called Lucille. I played three or four from the acoustic range as well. Was a great hour got some videos so will post them up. Got a free pick for playing so that was cool

Been a busy but great day taking in Memphis. Last night taking in the sounds of Beale street before heading back down highway 61 into Mississippi but will update tomorrow. 🎸🤘🏻
